Fordham Football Ranked Eleventh in Final Sports Network Poll

Rams ranked for 25th consecutive week

Bronx, N.Y. (January 19, 2015) – The Fordham University football Rams closed out the season with a #11 national ranking in the final Sports Network NCAA FSC poll, the 25th straight week that the Rams have been ranked in the national poll.
 
The Rams, who were also ranked 14th in the final NCAA FCS Coaches Poll, enjoyed another successful season in in 2014, going 11-3 overall and winning the Patriot League with a perfect 6-0 record. Fordham earned the league's automatic bid to the NCAA FCS Championships where the Rams won a first round game for the second straight year, defeating Sacred Heart on Jack Coffey Field, 44-22, before falling to top-ranked New Hampshire in the quarterfinals.

The 2014 Rams saw eight players earn All-America honors, including freshman running back Chase Edmonds who received the 2014 Jerry Rice Award as the top NCAA FCS freshman in the nation. Fordham also had 20 players named All-Patriot League, including 15 to the first team, both league records. Highlighting the All-Patriot League selections were senior quarterback Mike Nebrich, who was named the Offensive Player of the Year for the second straight year, and Edmonds, who was named the league's Rookie of the Year.
 
Nebrich and Edmonds helped lead a record-setting offense last fall as the Rams set school marks for rushing yards with 2,353, shattering the former mark of 2,162 set last year, and scoring with 569 points, surpassing last year's record of 526. Included in the scoring total was a school-record 31 rushing touchdowns. Edmonds did most of the damage on the ground, gaining 1,838 yards with 23 touchdowns, both school records.
 
The Rams led the Patriot League in passing offense, total offense and scoring offense while on the national level the Rams ranked fourth in passing offense (326.1 yards/game) in the NCAA FCS and ranked among the top ten in scoring offense (40.6 points/game – fifth), team passing efficiency (156.23 – third), total offense (494.1 yards/game – seventh) and first downs (331 - ninth).
 
For the second straight year, Fordham had a 1,000 rusher (Edmonds) and three 1,000-yard receivers (Brian Wetzel, Tebucky Jones, Jr., and Sam Ajala).
 
Defensively, the Rams led the Patriot League in tackles for loss and pass efficiency defense while ranking second in total defense and sacks. On the national level, Fordham was 13th in pass efficiency defense, 28th in total defense, 30th in sacks and 32nd in tackle for loss.
