Track & Field Competes at NYC Gotham Cup

The Fordham track & field team was back in action on Friday at the NYC Gotham Cup, held at the Armory Track & Field Center in New York.
 
The Rams put forth a solid effort with seven top ten finishes and one ECAC qualifying time.
 
The best finish of the day was the women's 4x800 relay, which took fourth in an ECAC qualifying time of 9:17.67.  Fordham had a good day in the relays as both the men's 4x800 (7:59.83) and distance medley relay (10:28.79) snagged fifth overall, while the women's distance medley was eighth overall in 13:04.54.  The relays were then rounded out by the 4x400's, where the women were 15^th (4:03.56) and the men were 28^th (3:35.68).
 
The best individual performance came from Quincy O'Connor, who ended up fifth in the mile run in 4:16.62, while Thomas Slattery was sixth in the 3,000 meter run in 8:31.06.  The last of the top ten finishes came from Danielle Rowe, who grabbed eighth in the 800 meter run in 2:15.24.
 
Titi Fagade added a pair of top 20 marks as she was 12^th in the 400 meter dash (56.62) and 20^th in the 200 meter dash (25.59), while Kristen Stuart was 15^th in the 500 meter run (1:16.55).
 
On the men's side, Nik O'Brien and Jonathan Annelli were 16^th (8:39.42) and 17^th (8:41.12), respectively, with Mike Turi coming in 18^th place in the mile run (4:21.40).  Lester Taylor was the last Ram among the top 20 in an event, as he was 13^th in the 500 meter run in 1:05.36.
 
Fordham's next track meet is in one week at the Metro Team Challenge on Friday, January 23^rd, at the Armory Track & Field Center.
