Complete Results (PDF) The Fordham track & field team was back in action for the first time in the new year on Saturday, as the Rams traveled to New Haven, Connecticut for the Yale Invitational. Fordham had a solid afternoon, posting four event wins to go with three ECAC/IC4A qualifying times.
Three of the four event wins came in the men's competition, led by
Lester Taylor, who captured the 500 meter event in an IC4A qualifying time of 1:04.87.
Joining Taylor with a first place finish were
Michael Campbell and
Quincy O'Connor. Campbell took first in the 1,000 meter run in 2:33.47, while O'Connor had the top time in the 3,000 meter run in 8:35.71.
Campbell and O'Connor had plenty of company in the top ten in their respective events. Behind Campbell,
Randall Turner was third in the 1,000 meter run (2:33.73) while
Yehia Fahmy took eighth overall (2:35.61). In the 3,000 meter,
Mike Turi was right behind O'Connor in third (8:49.80) with
Ryan McGann in fifth (8:52.04) and
Adam Schwenzfeier in ninth (8:56.94).

Louis Santelli in the 400 meters (8
th – 51.92),
Jonathan Annelli (7
th – 1:58.94) and
Thomas Slattery (10
th – 1:59.56) in the 800 meters,
Nik O'Brien in the mile run (5
th – 4:20.42), and
Austin Ruiz in the shot put (6
th – 47' 10").
In relay action, Fordham's top relay team in the 4x400 took tenth place in 3:30.78, while grabbing fourth in the distance medley relay in an IC4A qualifying time of 10:18.15.
On the women's side,
Titi Fagade posted her second ECAC qualifying mark of the season. Fagade, who broke the school record in the 400 meter dash over the holiday break, took first on Saturday in the 500 meter run in an ECAC mark of 1:14.48.
Merissa Wright joined Fagade in the 500 meter event with a solid performance, taking eighth in 1:18.60.
Kristen Stuart added a fourth place finish in the 800 meter run in 2:19.92, while
Elise Tigani grabbed ninth overall in the 400 meter dash in 1:01.34.
The Rams just missed adding three other top ten finishes in the 1,000 meters and the 3,000 meters.
Melanie Notarstefano (3:08.31) and
Mara Lieberman (3:08.58) ended up 11
th and 12
th, respectively in the 1,000 meters, while
Ariana Bottalico was 11
th in the 3,000 meters (10:46.90).
In the relays, Fordham earned fourth place in both the 4x400 relay (3:56.48) and the distance medley relay (12:11.37).
The Fordham track & field team will next be in action on Friday, January 16
th, as the Rams compete in the NYC Gotham Cup, held at the Armory Track & Field Center.
