NCAA FCS Preseason Coaches PollÂ
Bronx, N.Y. (August 4, 2014) - Chinese philosopher Lao-tzu once said that a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step and for the 2014 Fordham University football Rams that step occurred today as they started their journey, a trip they hope will land them in Frisco, Texas, site of the NCAA FCS championship game, today with the first day of summer camp on Murphy Field.
Â
Third-year head coach
Joe Moorhead guided the Rams through a two-hour workout as they prepare for the 2014 season opener on August 30 when Fordham hosts Saint Francis on Jack Coffey Field at 6:00 p.m.
Â
Also today, the NCAA FCS Coaches Poll was announced with the Rams being placed 12
th on the list.
Â
"I thought the effort was great today but the execution needs some improvement," said Moorhead. "We had some new guys and some young guys who are adjusting to our tempo but overall it was great for the team to get out here and show some enthusiasm on day one."
Â
After taking care of some administrative tasks earlier in the day, the team hit the field today for the first of five NCAA required acclimation days. The players are allowed to wear only helmets for the first three days of acclimation before donning shoulder pads for the fourth day and full pads for day five.
Â
After the first five days, the team can then have its first double session of practice. The Rams will have their first double session on Saturday. However, a team cannot have consecutive days of two-a-days.
