Volleyball Comes Up Short Versus GW

Brianna O’Neil Notches 15 Kills for Fordham

The Fordham volleyball team put forth a game effort, as they tried to play spoiler on Friday against the George Washington Colonials, who are fighting for playoff seeding in next week's Atlantic 10 Championship.  The Rams fought hard, but eventually fell in four sets to the Colonials, 25-18, 25-13, 18-25, and 25-17.
 
George Washington controlled the first two sets posting a .323 hitting percentage in the first and a .440 mark in the second.
 
Then in the third, Fordham rallied for a seven-point win.  With the score tied at seven, Fordham went on a 5-0 run to pull out to a 12-7 lead.  The Colonials fought their way back to tie the score at 15, but Fordham responded with nine of the next 11 points to earn set point at 24-17.  Chandler Moore then put away a kill to clinch the set, 25-18.
 
The fourth set saw eight tie scores with the last coming at 11 all. The Colonials went on a 5-1 run to pull ahead, 16-12.  Fordham got back within one at 17-16 on a kill by Brennan Delsing, but George Washington countered with nine of the next ten points to win, 25-17, and take the match.
 
For Fordham, Brianna O'Neil had a match-high 15 kills to go with six digs, while Delsing had nine kills and five digs.  Abigail Konovodff dished out 36 assists and six digs with Grace Muller contributing 11 digs, three assists and a service ace.
 
The Fordham volleyball team closes out its regular season on Saturday, November 15th, as the Rams host George Mason at 7:00 PM on Senior Night in the Rose Hill Gym.
