For their strong performances in the month of March, Fordham baseball pitcher Kirk Haynes, Jr. and softball pitcher/designated player Rachel Gillen distinguished themselves as the Zipcar Performers of the Month.
Haynes had an outstanding month on the mound, posting a 2-0 record with a 1.03 ERA and 24 strikeouts in 26.1 innings pitched. He also held opponents to a .154 batting average, giving up just one run over his final four appearances. He earned Atlantic 10 Pitcher of the Week honors twice, with his highlight performance coming in his final appearance of the month. On March 26
th, he pitched his first career complete game shutout over NJIT, allowing just three hits and a walk, while tying a career-high with nine strikeouts.

Gillen performed well in both the pitching circle and at the plate. At the plate, she batted .310 and led all Rams in the month with four doubles, three home runs, and 17 RBI. Her biggest at bats came right at the end of the month, as she notched the game-winning hit in both wins against Massachusetts to open Atlantic 10 play. In the circle, she posted seven wins and 57 strikeouts over 65.1 innings of action. Her best showings came on March 11
th & March 26
th, as she struck out 14 Providence batters in a win over the Friars on March 11
th, while coming close to her second career no-hitter with a one-hit shutout against Massachusetts on March 26
th.
