A two-sport standout at Fordham, William Krywicki starred for both the Fordham football and baseball squads.
With the gridiron Rams, Krywicki served as a three-year starter at quarterback, leading the 1937, 1938 and 1939 squads and serving as the team captain as a senior. Fordham compiled a 19-3-1 record over his three years as a starter, including a 7-0-1 mark during Krywicki's sophomore year, the last unbeaten season in school history. He was named to the Ukrainian All-America Football team following that season and was called "one of the finest men sever to hold the quarterback post" by his head coach, Jim Crowley.
Krywicki, who was known as much for his blocking abilities as his arm, was also the starting the quarterback in the first televised college football game when he led the 1939 team to a 34-7 win over Waynesburg at Triboro Stadium in a game broadcast live on W2XBS, now WNBC.
On the baseball diamond, Krywicki played catcher for Fordham Hall of Fame coach Jack Coffey. All three teams he was a member of won 20 games with the 1939 squad going 25-4.
