Wes Wallace was a track captain in 1940 and was also Student Council president as a senior. He held the world indoor record for 500 meters for 13 years, anchored the Ram mile relay team which set a world indoor record and was intercollegiate 600-yard champion. He was a founder and first president of the Fordham Spiked Shoe Club.
