A four year letter winner for the Rams, Rick Buoncore was a standout both on the diamond and in the classroom. In his junior season of 1977, Buoncore hit .343 with six homers, while being named All-Metropolitan and team MVP. He also served as co-captain and was named a second team All-American. As a senior, Buoncore as a team captain led the team in hitting with a .355 average. He also pulled off a rare unassisted triple play against Pace that season.
