Pete Holovak came to Fordham in 1937 from Lansford High in Pennsylvania, as a math and science honors student. While at Rose Hill, he proved more than his scholastic ability as one of the most talented athletes in the school's history. As a sophomore, the half-back scored three touchdowns, and then four as a junior. As a senior, Holovak rushed 41 times for 237 yards. He also had the longest touchdown run from scrimmage in the 1938 season, an 80 yard jaunt against Oregon.
