A two-time captain and part of many winning relay teams, Lavery set the school record in the 3000 meter Steeplechase as a senior, turning in a time of 8:42.9 which also qualified him for the NCAA Division I Championships. In his career, he was also a Junior National Qualifier as well as National TAC Qualifier. In cross country, Lavery set the school record of 24:49 on the five-mile Van Cortlandt Park course. Over his four-year cross country/track and field career, Lavery was a five-time IC4A and Metropolitan Champion and a six-time CTC Champion as well as a Silver Medalist at the Penn Relays.
