A 2003 graduate of Fordham College at Rose Hill with a degree in Communications, Michelle Maguire Kennedy, capped an outstanding swimming career by winning the Hobbs Family Award as the outstanding female athlete as a senior.
As a sophomore, Maguire earned Second Team All-Atlantic 10 honors, taking second in the 50 and 100 freestyle at the A-10 Championships. The following year, she set two individual and two teams records, breaking the school 50 and 100 free records at the 2002 Atlantic 10 Championships as well as being a member of the school record-setting 200 free and 200 medley relays at A-10's.
Maguire, a three-time team MVP and captain, scored in the 50 and 100 free at Atlantic 10's all four years and closed out her collegiate career by receiving the 2003 Hobbs Family Award as the school's outstanding female athlete. She was also chosen to deliver the farewell speech to retiring university president Fr. Joseph O'Hare, S.J., at the 2003 Block F Awards dinner.
