Ed Kohler was a member of the track & field team as a throwing specialist in the early 1960s.

A multiple-time Metropolitan champion, he had his finest season in the 1961-62 campaign, setting school records in the indoor shot put (57' 3 1/2"),  outdoor shot put (55' 7") and discus throw (178' 11 1/2").
