Cornelius “Connie” Murphy was a member of the Fordham Football family, who tragically died on December 3, 1931 from injuries suffered during the Fordham-Bucknell game at the Polo Grounds on November 21st, just a few weeks prior.

Murphy played tackle for the football team and was named team captain of the 1932 team posthumously, while his jersey number, 33, is retired.
