Spinelli, a 1985 College of Business Administration graduate, was a four-year letterman on the offensive line with the football Rams, serving as a team captain as a junior and senior. He started all four years on the line and helped Artie Troilo rush for 949 yards (sixth best in Fordham history) as a freshman. As a senior, Spinelli was instrumental in helping Chip Kron rush for a then school record 1,263 yards, a record that lasted 18 years.
Spinelli served as a Graduate Assistant Football Coach at Fordham following graduation and would later graduate from Fordham Law in 1989. He is a member of the Fordham University Gridiron Club and of the Fordham University President's Cabinet.
