Atsushi Ohtaka, who graduated from Fordham College with a degree in Physics in 1992, etched his named in the Fordham and Patriot League swimming record books from 1988-92.
Ohtaka graduated with seven school records and two Patriot League records. At graduation, he held Fordham records in the 200 breaststroke (2:03.15), the 400 IM (3:57.97) and the 800 freestyle relay (6:52.89) with the 200 butterfly and 400 IM still standing as Patriot League records. He led the Rams to the 1990-91 Patriot League championships with a perfect 11-0 regular season record. That year Ohtaka, who was named team MVP, was part of the 400-yard medley relay team that won a gold medal at the Patriot League Championships.
In 2000, Ohtaka was one of 20 male swimmers to be named to the Patriot League All-Decade Team.
