An All-American in high school, Alex Trammell continued that success at Rose Hill. He was a member of the 1973 NCAA Championship two-mile relay team and that fall, ran on Fordham's NCAA-qualifying cross country squad in 1975. A two-time NCAA All-American, Trammell ran on the 1975 IC4A Indoor two-mile relay team that posted the third fastest time in the world with a first place time of 7:27.2. At the NCAA Championships, the team finished second, earning All-American honors.
